Dear Academy Families,

This is a reminder that November tuition is due. Please be sure to pay no later than November 1 to avoid a 10% late fee. Students will not be allowed to take class as of November 2 if tuition has not been paid. All payments are online through Jackrabbit. To log in, just enter your email address and the password you created at registration.

If you would like to pay for several months in advance, you will need to call the front desk and ask them to post the additional fees early.

Academy News & Reminders:

  • Children’s Program Info – Did you catch ANBT Children’s Program Coordinator Dodie Askegard speaking about our Children’s Program in NBT’s most recent edition of Focal Pointe? Click here to see her interview! If you did not receive the Focal Pointe newsletter, please respond to this email so you don’t miss the next one.
  • While Waiting Outside – Please remember that students and parents are asked to wear their masks while waiting outside the building before classes, and they are asked to stay socially distanced. Parents, please remind your children about this.
  • Nevada Day/Halloween – There will be regular classes on Nevada Day (Oct. 30) and Halloween. Students may wear their costumes on Halloween if they like, as long as they are safe to dance in, and they wear their required dance shoes and required masks.
  • Veterans Day – There are no Academy classes on Wednesday, November 11 due to Veterans Day.
  • Thanksgiving – There are no Academy classes during Thanksgiving Week, November 23-29.
  • Academy Yearbooks – We are in the process of creating our yearbook for last year…a great school year with an unusual end. We will begin taking orders for the books soon. Watch your email!

Fall 2020 Registration Has Begun!

We are happy to announce registration for Fall 2020 classes, which begin Monday, August 24!

Ballet A1-C2 Ballet & Dance Majors Priority Registration:

Friday, August 14 10:00a-3:00p and Monday, August 17 9:00a-5:00p

Registration Opens for all classes:

Tuesday, August 18, 9:00a

To register, please do the following:

  1. View the schedule by clicking here.
  2. View our Health & Safety information, Student Handbook, Covid-19 Liability Waiver, and more by contacting us at 702-243-2623.
  3. View our Uniform Requirements by clicking here.
  4. Sign a Covid-19 Liability Waiver and send it to us. The signed document can be attached as a response to this email, emailed to scangey@nevadaballet.org, or faxed to (702) 804-0365. If sending a photo of the completed document, make sure it is 100% legible and is emailed as an attachment.
  5. After sending the Covid-19 Liability Waiver to us, please allow a few hours for processing, then call to begin registration. (702) 243-2623
  6. After your waiver is received and you call to speak to a receptionist, you will be sent a link to complete your registration online. Subsequent payments may be made online or by phone.

Academy News & Reminders:

  • Telephone Customer Service Hours– While the Academy lobby is currently closed, reception will be available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 10:00a-3:00p. Call 702-243-2623. Beginning Monday, August 17, phones will be answered from 9:00a-5:00p.
  • Healthcheck App – Information about installing and using the required Healthcheck App will be sent to parents when they register.
  • Labor Day – There will be no classes on Monday, September 7 due to Labor Day, but there will be regular classes on Saturday, September 5.

Fall 2020 Class Schedule

Dear Academy Families,
Over the past few months, we have worked tirelessly to enhance our safety policies and procedures, add necessary equipment and PPE, and create a revised footprint in order to provide the safest environment possible for our students, faculty, and staff. Therefore, we are excited to present our Fall 2020 class schedule and ANBT Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, for our classes beginning Monday, August 24, with Fall Prep Week August 17-21.
As we reopen, we continue to adhere to guidelines and directives provided to us by the CDC, local and state government officials, as well as directives from NBT’s Board leadership and legal counsel. We are excited to offer a combination of both in-person and virtual classes this fall. Academy News:
  • Telephone Customer Service Hours – While the Academy is currently closed, beginning August 3rd, reception will be available to answer calls Monday through Thursday from 10:00am-3:00pm and Friday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at 702-243-2623.
  • Registration – When we are ready to begin registration, an email will be sent and put on the Academy blog. All registration will take place by phone and online.
  • Fall Prep Week – Students in Ballet A1-C2 are encouraged to join us for Fall Prep Week, a week of daily classes in preparation for the start of our school year. Click here for details. Class size is limited due to social distancing.

We hope you are all doing well. We are happy to let you know that we will soon be sending out the Fall 2020 schedule for in-person and virtual classes. Please keep an eye out for upcoming Academy News communications from Shannon Cangey, Academy Coordinator with the Fall schedule, registration date, information on the additional health and safety procedures we have implemented, Student Handbook, and more. Currently, we are planning for classes to begin at the end of August, via our new online registration and payment portal.

Dear Academy Families,
Below are a few news items and reminders for you.
  • Fall 2020 Survey- Be sure to take our Fall 2020 survey – it will only take a few minutes. Just click here. We hope to hear from you!
  • Summer Intensive – Registration is now open for the final week of Summer Intensive (July 6-10), for students who were in Pre-Ballet 1 and up during the past school year. Click here for information.
  • Refund Checks – Refund checks for those who had credits on their accounts from the 2019-2020 school year will go in the mail during the week of June 29.
  • Costumes – If you requested to keep your costume from Spring Concert 2020 or the In-Student Performance, they will be distributed after classes begin in the Fall.
  • Fall Classes – Reopening plans are now underway for Fall 2020. An email with registration information will go out to all Academy Families soon. We can’t wait to see you all!

Summer Programs 2020

Dear Parents and Students,

We have missed all of you and we hope you are staying healthy and positive. All of us at NBT have been working tirelessly to create new safety protocols as part of an operational and procedural plan that will ensure our 36,000 square foot facility is ready for your return. It is important that we have the necessary time to test and implement these new procedures to ensure we meet the appropriate health standards.​ Therefore, we are very excited to offer a comprehensive and exciting virtual summer program for you. Details and a registration link can be found in Shannon’s email below. We appreciate your patience and understanding and we can’t wait to welcome you all back into the building very soon!

Dear Academy Families,

Registration for our Virtual Summer Programs has begun!

Our Summer Programs include two Summer Prep Weeks, in which students in Pre-Ballet 1 through Ballet C2 can get back in shape, and then two weeks of Summer Intensive when students will continue their training with instructors who know them, their history, and the progress they have made. Scroll to the bottom of this email for class times and prices.

Our Summer Programs will be online, through Zoom. All dress codes will remain the same as the 2019-20 school year.

Requirements for Summer Program classes:

  • Students must wear their class uniform from the 2019-2020 school year, with hair in a very neat ballet bun. Boys’ hair must be neat and away from the face.
  • Students must be in ballet slippers, as per our uniform requirements.
  • Students’ cameras must be on so that the teacher can see you. If your computer does not have this feature, please let us know when you register.
  • Students must face the camera when they do barre, on both sides. To do this, put a chair on each side of you so you don’t have to turn away. Also be sure the camera captures your whole body, not just from the waist up.
  • Attendance will be taken at the start of each class. Be on time, or early!
  • Be sure that the name on your Zoom window is the student’s, not the parent’s or a nickname.

April Tuition Info

Dear Academy Families,
I hope this email finds you all well during this challenging time.
As most of you know, under normal circumstances, April tuition would be due on March 25. However, we are suspending all payments for tuition, costumes, fees, etc., until after classes resume. We are not expecting any payments on March 25.  As soon as we know when classes can resume we will be informing everyone about credits to their account and any revised payment schedule going forward.

Academy Classes Update

Dear Academy Families,

As per Sunday’s announcement from Governor Sisolak, ANBT classes will be suspended starting, Monday March 16, along with all Nevada K-12 schools, until a minimum of April 13. We will send any additional information as we get it.

Please be sure to regularly check your email, as emails are our primary means of communication to our parents. Also please regularly check the Academy blog, as all emails are posted there (academyofnbt.blogspot.com). Any Academy changes to our procedures, class schedules, or events will be emailed and posted on the blog.

Finally, we thank you for continuing to allow us to teach your children and for being a part of the Academy family.

Academy Classes Update

Dear Academy Families,

As we continue to follow the latest coronavirus developments, we want to update you on the steps we’re taking to keep our students safe and healthy. For the moment, we do not plan to cancel regular classes. Like the Clark County School District, our goal is to remain open and educate our students and continue to provide a sense of stability for our students, employees, and families.

Our regular classes are taking place as scheduled. However, we have decided to cancel two upcoming extra activities:

  • Academy Showcase – We are disappointed to cancel our Showcase, which was scheduled for March 25, but in these early days of the current crisis, we are following the lead of CCSD’s cancellation of extracurricular activities and will cancel the performance.
  • Observation Week – In an effort to keep our studios safe for students, we have decided to cancel Observation Week, which was scheduled for March 23-28. Regular classes will continue, but we will limit entrance to our studios to our students and teachers. Observation Week is tentatively rescheduled for the last week of classes, May 18-23.

Currently we have no plans to cancel the Spring Concert. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and we will let you know if anything changes.

Our school policies follow those of the Clark County School District. If the CCSD decides to close schools, we will follow their lead and cancel regular classes as well.

Many parents have asked us what procedures we use to keep our studios clean. We, and our cleaning service, are increasing our cleaning efforts as a proactive approach to preventing the possible spread of any illnesses.

We are taking the current measures:

  • At the start of every day, the front desk area, railings, and door handles are wiped down on the entrances, interior doors, and studio doors.
  • Before classes begin, and between every class, all barres and door handles are wiped down in each studio.
  • Each student is given hand sanitizer when they enter each class.
  • Hand sanitizer is available at the front desk at all times.
  • We ask our faculty and staff to stay home if they might be sick.

What we ask of our parents and students:

  • Immediately upon entering the building, please use the hand sanitizer at the front desk. Students are asked to wash their hands with soap and warm water right away.
  • Do not send students to school if they might be sick. (Students who are coughing or sneezing will be asked to call their parents to pick them up.)
  • Students must be fever-free for 24 hours before attending any Academy class.
  • Remind your children to wash their hands, avoid touching their faces, and to cover their mouth/nose when coughing or sneezing.

Please be sure to regularly check your email, as emails are our primary means of communication to our parents. Also please also regularly check the Academy blog, as all emails are posted there (academyofnbt.blogspot.com). Any Academy changes to our procedures, class schedules, or events will be emailed and on posted on the blog.

Some Academy news and reminders for you:

  • Monday, March 9 – Although CCSD schools are closed on Monday the 9th, Academy classes are happening as usual.
  • Spring Concert Details – Spring Concert Info Packets, with all details for our Spring Concert performances in May, will be available at the front desk beginning Monday, March 9.
  • Spring Concert T-Shirts – If you would like to order a Spring Concert t-shirt, the deadline is Saturday, March 28. The order form will be in your Info Packet, available on March 9.
  • Program Ads – If you would like to place an ad in the Spring Concert program for your business or to give special wishes to your child, the deadline to place the order is Saturday, March 28. The order form will be in your Info Packet, available on March 9.
  • Room Mothers – Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Nannies, or older siblings are needed to volunteer and chaperone each class that will perform in Spring Concert. Signup sheets will be posted in the lobby on March 9, and there is a mandatory Room Mother meeting at NBT on Monday, March 30 at 6pm. Thanks in advance!
  • Observation Week – Don’t miss viewing your child’s classes during Observation Week, March 23-28.
  • Pre-Ballet Conferences – Parents who would like to meet with their child’s teacher may sign up for a conference. These are not mandatory, but we encourage you to participate. The signup sheets are posted in the lobby.
  • Academy Showcase – Permission Slips will go out to students soon, for those who will be performing in the Academy Showcase at NBT on Wednesday, March 25. Be sure to come watch the performance, for only $5 each, at 6:30pm that night!
