Academy News and Tuition Reminder

Dear Academy Families:

This email is a reminder that February tuition is due. Please pay no later than Saturday, February 1 to avoid a 10% late fee. Students whose tuition has not been paid by February 3 will not be able to take class.

Academy News:

  • Martin Luther King Day – There are no Academy classes on Monday, January 20 in observance of the holiday. However, the building is open until 5pm.
  • Spring Concert Fees – If you haven’t yet paid the Spring Concert Fee (different than Costume Fees) for your child, please do so no later than January 31. These are for all students performing at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in May.
  • Candy Grams– From January 21-February 8, purchase a Valentine Gram for $5 for your child or teacher! These will be delivered during classes from February 10-15.
  • Daddy/Daughter Class (or Mommy or Grandparent) – (For ages 3-8 on Family Day, February 8) During the beginning of class, create a special Valentine’s Day photo frame, then bring your Dad (or family member) to class with you where you will take a photo and then take class together! At the end of class, take home your framed photo as a keepsake. Purchase in advance at $5/couple. This class is free for parents and their child who have volunteered this year! The classes are at 9am and 10am on Family Day.
  • Coloring Contest– All Academy students are encouraged to enter the Family Day Coloring Contest for a chance to win tickets to NBT’s Bolero! Pick up your coloring sheet at the front desk and return it by Thursday, February 6. Then vote for your favorites on Family Day, February 8!
  • Bake Sale– Volunteers are asked to bake goodies for our Family Day Valentine’s-themed Bake Sale. If you would like to bake for us, please respond to this email.
  • Presidents’ Day – There will be no Academy classes on Monday, February 17 in observance of Presidents’ Day.

Join us for Family Day on Feb. 8

Dear Academy Families:

We hope you will join us on Saturday, February 8 for our annual Family Day! There will be activities for all ages!

Family Day Activities:

  • Daddy/Daughter Class (or Mommy or Grandparent) – (For ages 3-8) During the beginning of class, create a special Valentine’s Day photo frame, then bring your Dad (or family member) to class with you where you will take a photo and then take class together! At the end of class, take home your framed photo as a keepsake. Purchase in advance at $5/couple. This class is free for parents and their child who have volunteered this year!   • NBT Company Class – Take a peek at our professional company while they take class to prepare for their full day of rehearsals.

Welcome back to classes! We hope you had a great Winter Break.

Officially January tuition is now due, but because of Winter Break, the deadline has been extended. Please pay no later than Saturday, January 11 to avoid a 10% late fee.

Academy News:

  • Summer Intensive – Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s 2020 Summer Intensive will be June 1-12 (current Pre-Ballet 3 through A3) and June 15-27 (current B1-C2). All current Academy students are eligible to enroll. Details will be available at the end of February.
  • Summer Intensive Auditions – Several dance schools are holding auditions at NBT for their own Summer Intensives, including Ballet Chicago this Saturday, January 11. See the dates below for the list of auditions. If you would like to audition, please contact each company directly.
  • Audition Photos – Students in Ballet A3 and up who need photos for upcoming auditions are invited to take photos at ANBT. Click here for information.

Dear Academy Families:

Academy News:

  • Winter Break – There will be no Academy classes December 23-January 4. Classes resume on January 6.
  • Building Hours – During Winter Break, the building will be open a few days to allow for payments and questions. NBT will be open 9:00am-5:00pm on December 23, 24, 26, & 27, and January 2 & 3.
  • Adult Ballet Classes – Students in Ballet B2 and up are welcome to come take class to stay in shape during the holidays. Adult Ballet will be at 10:30am on December 23, 26, 27, and January 2 & 3. Classes are $16 each.
  • The Nutcracker Don’t miss the chance to see our Academy students perform in The Nutcracker with NBT’s professional company. There are still tickets available, and the last performance is on December 24.

Academy News & Tuition Reminder

Dear Academy Families:

This email is a reminder that December tuition is now due. While tuition is usually due no later than the 1st of the month, this time because of the Thanksgiving holiday, December’s due date has been extended to December 7. Please pay no later than Saturday, December 7 to avoid a 10% late fee.

Academy News:

  • Observation Week & Costume Ordering – Saturday, November 23 is the last day of Observation Week and also the last day to bring your child to the lobby to be measured and order your Spring Concert costumes.
  • Commitment Agreements – Please turn in the back page of your Spring Concert Commitment Packet (available at the front desk) no later than Saturday, November 23.
  • Pointe Shoe Contest – Saturday, November 23 is the deadline to turn in entries for our annual Point Shoe Decorating Contest.
  • Thanksgiving Break – There are no Academy classes during the week of Thanksgiving, November 25-December 1.
  • Adult Ballet Classes – Students in Ballet B2-C2 are welcome to come take our Adult Ballet classes during Thanksgiving Break: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10:30am-12:00pm. Classes are $16 each.
  • Children’s Museum – If you need something to do on Black Friday besides go shopping, come see some of our Academy students appearing in costume at the Nutcracker Extravaganza exhibit at the Discovery Children’s Museum. They will be at the museum from noon until 4pm.
  • Silent Auction – Be sure to place bids on the great items in our annual Silent Auction in the lobby! They make great holiday gifts. We have original paintings, gift cards, Nevada Ballet Theatre tickets Cirque du Soleil tickets, and more!
  • The Nutcracker – Do you have your tickets for Nevada Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker? Click here for information.
  • Winter Break – There will be no classes December 23-January 5. Classes resume on January 6.

Observation Week

Dear Academy Families:

Be sure to join us next week, November 18-23, for Observation Week! This is your chance to sit in and watch your children’s classes.

While you’re here, be sure to stop by the costume ordering table in the lobby to have your child measured and fill out the Spring Concert Costume Order Form.

Also, don’t forget that the Commitment Agreement and Costume Fees are due by November 23 (as well as entries for the Pointe Shoe Decorating Contest)!

Finally, beginning Monday, November 18, our silent auction items will be on display in the lobby, and they make great holiday gifts. We have gift cards, original paintings, show tickets, and more!

Dear Academy Families,

A few news items for you:

Spring Concert Commitment Packets are now available at the front desk. These list the rehearsal dates for the classes who will be performing in either of our two Spring Concert productions at The Smith Center this year. Please fill out and return the back page no later than Saturday, November 23.

Our annual Pointe Shoe Decorating Contest has begun! All ages may participate. Just pick up a pointe shoe and entry form at the front desk, decorate it, and return them to the front desk no later than Saturday, November 23. There are two age groups, and the winner of each group will receive two tickets to NBT’s Bolero in February!

Don’t forget about our Silent Auction Fundraiser. The deadline to donate an item is this Saturday, November 9. Thanks!

In addition to the Academy news below, this is a reminder that November tuition is due. Please pay no later than Thursday, October 31 to avoid a 10% late fee. Students whose tuition has not been paid by November 1 will not be allowed to take class.

Academy News:

  • Swan Lake Field Trip – Tuesday, October 22 is the deadline to sign up for the field trip to see NBT’s Swan Lake.
  • Nevada Day – There will be regular classes on October 25 and 26.
  • Halloween – There will be regular classes on Halloween, but students are welcome to wear their costumes to class. Just make sure they are safe to dance in, and wear your required dance shoes.
  • In-Studio Costume/Prop Fee – Although the deadline for First Steps and Music & Movement students to pay for a costume for the Winter In-Studio Performance has passed, it may still be possible to place an order. See the front desk asap.
  • Spring Concert Class Assistants – For those who turned in applications to be Class Assistants this year, there is a mandatory meeting on Saturday, November 2 at 2:00pm. This is to learn what is expected and receive your class assignments.
  • Pointe Shoe Decorating Contest – Our annual Pointe Shoe Decorating Contest will begin on November 4. See the front desk for an entry form, then return the shoes no later than Saturday, November 23. The winners of each age group will receive two tickets to NBT’s Bolero!
  • Silent Auction Fundraiser – Academy Families are asked to donate items for our annual Silent Auction Fundraiser. Information is being handed out in classes this week. Items must be donated by November 9. Thanks!
  • Veterans Day – There are no Academy classes on Monday, November 11 due to the Veterans Day holiday.
  • College Prep Workshop – Our students in 7th-12th grade are invited to enroll in the College Prep Workshop offered by Francisco Gella Dance Works at NBT on Saturday, November 16. Academy Students get 50% off. See the front desk for information.
  • Observation Week – November 18-23 is Observation Week! Be sure to come see your child’s classes.
  • Costume Ordering Week – Be sure to come to the lobby with your child during Observation Week, November 18-23, to fill out a form and have your child measured for his/her Spring Concert Costume. Those who do not order during this week are subject to late fees and delayed costumes.
  • Costume Fees – The costume fees for all Spring Concert costumes are due on Saturday, November 23. Each fee is $110 except for Pre-Ballet 1 & 2, Hip-Hop Babies, and Hip-Hop Kids, which are $100.
  • Commitment Packets – Spring Concert Commitment Packets will be available on November 1 at the front desk. Please fill out the back page and return it no later than Saturday, November 23.
  • Thanksgiving Break – There will be no classes during Thanksgiving week, November 25-December 1.

  • National Dance Day – On Saturday, September 21, in celebration of National Dance Day, Tiffany Baker, the Dance Coach for Cirque du Soleil‘s Michael Jackson ONE, will be teaching a free Hip-Hop class for all levels, ages 10 and up. The class is from 12:00p-1:00p. Come dance with us and celebrate National Dance Day!
  • Academy Showcase – Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 16, when the ANBT Competition Team will present its pieces for the upcoming competition season in our annual Academy Showcase. The show will be at NBT at 6:30p and tickets are $5 each at the door.
  • Nevada Day – There will be regular classes on October 25 and 26.
  • Swan Lake Field Trip – Students in Ballet A2-C2 and Teen Ballet will receive info soon about our field trip to see NBT’s Swan Lake on Saturday, October 26.
