SUMMER AT ACADEMY OF NEVADA BALLET THEATRE

The Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre provides summer dance opportunities for young children, the more seasoned pre-professional student as well general summer classes and adult ballet classes.

 

STORY BALLET:

ANBT’s annual “Story Ballet” is a two week program (June 15-June 26) for children ages 3 to 5 as well as ages 6 to 8, offering young ones a fun and exciting exploration of classical ballet. Click here for dates, times and schedule.

 

SUMMER INTENSIVE:

The annual “Summer Intensive,” (June 15-26) caters to the more advanced pre-professional ballet student ages 7 -18. Featuring guest teachers, former American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Principal Dancer Cynthia Gregory and Cirque du Soleil Artist Jordan McHenry, ANBT’s Summer Intensive is perfect for the student who is seriously pursuing a quality education in dance. This summer, join us for our exciting Story Ballet Program which offers children a valuable and fun exploration of a classical story ballet. The ballet’s story is told through the characters, with ballet movement and technique, mime, and music exploration. It all culminates in a performance at the end of each week when the story ballet comes alive through the children’s own creativity and all they have learned!

 

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, 9:30-12:30
Two Groups: Ages 3-5 and 6-8
June 15-19 Theme: Sleeping Beauty
June 22-26 Theme: Cinderella

 

TUITION:
$168/week
Plus a $35 registration fee for students not enrolled
in the Academy during the 2014-2015 school year.

 

DRESS CODE:
Girls: pink leotard, pink ballet shoes, and pink socks, with hair neatly tied up
Boys: white tank leotard and black bike shorts, white socks, black full sole ballet slippers

 

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP REQUIREMENTS:
All parents and / or guardians must escort their child into the building for drop-off and enter the building and wait for your child in the lobby for pick-up. No child will be allowed to exit the building unless accompanied by a parent and/or guardian.

 

REFRESHMENTS:
We recommend that each child bring bottled water and a snack with them each day of camp. There is a short supervised snack break.

 

 




It is our pleasure to announce the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s
Summer Intensive 2015.

The Summer Intensive Program is a two-week training program for 7 through 18-year-old students who are seriously pursuing an excellent education in dance. Non-Academy students must audition to be accepted into the program.

DATES:

The Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre’s two-week Summer Intensive begins on Monday, June 15 and concludes on

Friday, June 26. There will be a performance for parents each Friday.

 

TIMES:

Advanced & Intermediate Levels: 9:00a-4:00p, Monday-Friday
(This is a full-day program, but students may attend one or both weeks.)


Beginning Level: 9:00a-12:00p and/or 12:30p-3:30p

(Students can choose the morning and/or afternoon session, for one or both weeks.)

 

CLASSES:

Advanced and Intermediate students will study Ballet, Pointe, Variaons, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Jumps & Turns, Improvisation, History, and Stretch & Conditioning. Students will also have a Choreography workshop with Cynthia Gregory during the second week of Intensive. Beginning Level students will study Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Stretch & Conditioning, and Hip-Hop.

 

TUITION:

Advanced/Intermediate Levels: $228 for one week, and $456 for two weeks

Beginning Level: $168 for morning session or afternoon session for one week, and $336 for morning or afternoon session for two weeks.

 

The tuition for those taking one week only is due at the time of registration. Those taking both weeks may pay for the first week upon registration and the remaining balance no later than the first day of Intensive. There is a $35 registration fee for students not previously enrolled in the Academy during the 2014-2015 school year.

 

 

 

AUDITIONING:

Current ANBT students do not have to audition. Non-academy students who live in the Las Vegas area may call to schedule a placement/audtiion class. Non-Academy students may also mail a DVD or email a link to an online video. This video should include:

Barre: Five exercises, including adagio and grand battements

Center Work: Must include pirouettes both en dehor and en dedans
Allegro (jumps): Must include small, medium, and grande allegro
Pointe Work (for those already on pointe): Simple echappes, bourres, pique onto pointe (such as pique into arabesque)

DEADLINE:
Students who register no later than Friday, May 15 will receive an ANBT Summer Intensive t-shirt.

 

As space allows, students may register through Friday, June 12, but a space in the program is not guaranteed at that point.

Four Classes: $65
Six Classes: $85
Eight Classes: $95
(Students age 14 and up may also take the Adult Classes on Mon/Wed/Fri.)

 

ADULT CLASSES: (June 8-August 14)

Ages 14 & up
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, June 8 August 14 - Intermediate/ Advanced Ballet 10:30a-12:00p
Adult classes are $16 each or $120 for a 10-card
