OPENING AVAILABLE: Academy Principal
This position manages and oversees the Academy toward its primary goals and objectives as determined by the Artistic Director and the Executive Director & CEO. The Academy Principal will need to have the passion, drive and ambition to realize these goals. Duties may include but not limited to:

– Develop/maintain Program Curriculum & Syllabi for 9 month Program, Summer Programs, Fall Prep, Workshop Weeks
– Manage and coordinate Instructors/Faculty to include Contracts, curriculum, training and evaluations
– Teaching
– Oversee program content and music selections
– Hire, terminate and supervise Academy Faculty and staff
– Implement student level placement, selection of scholarship students in conjunction with the Artistic Director
– Interfacing with parents

Qualifications include but not limited to:

– Must have comprehensive understanding of the management needs of a Ballet Academy
– Deep knowledge of ballet pedagogy across the age/ability spectrum
– Strong knowledge of the ballet world and professional companies currently in USA
– Deep commitment to students and to their education in dance
– Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
– Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
– Must be able to demonstrate both beginning/advance dance movements as required

International Audition Pre-Selection Guidelines

An applicant would be required to submit the following material only:

A video with no introduction or fancy editing, consisting of the following performed in tight fitting dance attire for men:

  • A short classical variation drawn from the standard repertoire
  • A short contemporary variation (that could consist of something drawn from repertoire, phrases from classwork or an applicant-created work) that illustrates the applicant’s command of a range of movement different from that demonstrated in the classical variation.
  • 3-5 minutes of barre work, incorporating both sides, danced in soft shoes by male applicants
  • 3-5 minutes of centre work that includes adagio, pirouettes, petit and grand allegro
