Enjoy this Insights program on Alice (in Wonderland) as NBT Director of Education and Outreach Terané Comito hosts a discussion with eight Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre students cast in the production, along with ANBT Instructor Kelly Cabrera.

NBT’s Insights programs are educational pre-performance discussions offering patrons an opportunity to further engage with the ballet they are about to see. These informative discussions are hosted by special guests with unique points of view on the upcoming performance and are augmented with multi-media presentations, Q&A sessions and more.
 

Dance Discovery Camp Goes Virtual

Log in and Dance On! Not even a pandemic could derail the desire of our students to dance this summer, so NBT’s annual Dance Discovery Camp went virtual. Over 40 Dance Discovery Scholars participated in the two week camp which included ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop and dance history.

Led by instructors Terane Comito, Erica Kirby and Jamie Grover Dance Discovery Camp enables students to continue their dance education through the summer, where they gain additional dance experience. Participating students are part of NBT’s Dance Discovery program, providing a scholarship track for dancers chosen from the GO-MOVE-DANCE!!! Program who show promise based on talent, facility, and commitment.

Enjoy this look back at a fun new way we made dance a part of summer for these great kids.

In 2019 NBT was ecstatic to honor the legendary Rita Moreno as our Woman of the Year at the Black & White Ball. The opportunity to spend an evening with one of the most cherished women in America was surpassed only by her graciousness, humor and joy. From beginning to end Rita lit up the ballroom with her smile and warmth. In 2008 NBT joined forces with Cirque du Soleil® to create a new, one-of-a-kind collaboration that would bolster artistic talent and create dynamic new works for the stage which combined the grace of ballet and the kinetic energy of Cirque. This new event became the must-see event each fall for those in Las Vegas who craved bold original works resulting from the mash-up of these two iconic cultural institutions.

Twelve years later, A Choreographers’ Showcase continues to dazzle audiences each year. The production features over sixty performers including Cirque du Soleil artists, NBT Professional Company Artists, students from NBT’s Academy and students from NBT’s Future Dance Program.  Enjoy this look back at the 2019 performance, through the lens of photographer Virginia Trudeau.

Every once in a while NBT redefines what it means to be blown away by a ballet performance. Such was the case in 2018 when NBT staged a spectacular production of Septime Webre’s Alice (in Wonderland). This thrilling, visually explosive and wildly entertaining production showcased the talents of NBT Professional Company Artists as well students from NBT’s Academy.  The results kept Las Vegas buzzing for months.
