The Nutcracker: Home for the Holidays

For the 2020 Holiday Season Nevada Ballet Theatre and the Las Vegas Review-Journal partnered to bring the spirit of The Nutcracker directly into the homes of Valley residents. NBT’s The Nutcracker: Home for the Holidays is a delightful, family-friendly three part television series that takes viewers inside the world of The Nutcracker. From its creation to the herculean efforts required to bring the story alive on stage, to the artistry of NBT’s professional company of dancers and the unbridled energy of its Academy student performers, this behind-the-scenes look at The Nutcracker delights viewers of all ages. Hosted by renowned broadcast personalities Dayna Roselli and Sean McAllister, the series features new commentary, never before seen footage and excerpts of some of NBT’s memorable past performances.

Behind The Scenes: Dracula

Dracula Répétiteur Dominic Walsh takes us behind the scenes with NBT’s Professional Company Artists during their rehearsals for Dracula in 2018. Behind The Scenes: Makeup Magic

In 2014 NBT staged a delightful production of Coppelia, the comedic story of a mysterious doll maker and his mischievous creations. The broadly comedic characters required broadly comedic expressions. In this behind the scenes segment NBT Wardrobe Manager and Makeup Artist Christopher Larson shows us the secrets behind transforming performer Gene Lubas into the eccentric Dr. Coppelius.

The Making of a World Premiere

Renowned choreographer Nicolo Fonte created a World Premiere work for NBT in 2019, Crane/ing. In this feature story Mr. Fonte and NBT Artistic Director Roy Kaiser talk about the creative process, the interplay between choreographer and dancer, and the vital importance new works play for a ballet company’s repertory.

Behind-the-Scenes: Classic Americana

Opening its 2017 main stage season at The Smith Center, NBT presented Classic Americana, an enthralling program of three ballets rooted in the American Experience. In this look Behind-the-Scenes, NBT Artistic Director Roy Kaiser and NBT Company Artist Christina Ghiardi share their thoughts on two pieces by George Balanchine, Serenade and Western Symphony. Rachel Berman, Repetiteur for the Paul Taylor Dance Company, shares her insight into the boogie-woogie energy of Mr. Taylor’sCompany B. This red, white and blue repertory program brought the audience to its feet, showcasing the versatility and talent of NBT’s Artists.
